CCSD Annual Veterans and Military Appreciation Football Game
Just a reminder that the Cherry Creek Schools will host the annual event that invites current and former service members to a district school for a unique community gathering. This year’s event will begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18th, with a communal meal at the Cherokee Trail High School cafeteria followed by a football game at 6 p.m. between Cherokee Trail High School and Overland High School at neighboring Legacy Stadium located at 26101 E. Arapahoe Road, Aurora, CO 80016.
CCSD students, teachers and staff members will be on hand to show their appreciation, while our veterans and active military will have the chance to share their insights and experiences, all while enjoying food, football and fun at one of our great neighborhood schools. Local businesses will also participate, donating food and supplies for the communal meal.
The event is a chance for our students to learn from the insights and experiences of our community members. Current and former service members from all the branches of the military will interact directly with students and be a part of the district’s dedication to excellence.
Dine In: 4:00 open to Veterans, Military members and their families. Pizza, salad and dessert for all guests. A goodie bag, shirt, hat and pin is given to each of our Veteran and Military guests.

A large group of Colorado Patriot Guard riders escort the football teams from their schools to the stadium and then join in the gauntlet. Once the guests arrive at the stadium there is a short program and announcements to celebrate our nations heroes, possibly a mounted color guards, presentation of the colors and tolling of the honor bell. We select two honorary captains per team and one district captain. Coin toss and then Kick off for the game!
