Training: Trauma-Informed Care for Mentors

Join WarriorNOW Tuesday, May 9th at 1700 for a free training about Trauma-Informed Care for Mentors.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

A trauma-informed approach is essential for all people working with high risk populations. Trauma has numerous adverse effects. As mentors, we need to be informed on how trauma impacts the people we work with, and how a better understanding of trauma can help us serve our mentees better. The purpose of this training is to help mentors have a deeper understanding of the role of trauma in their mentee’s lives, and how they can be work with their mentees in a trauma-informed capacity.

 

BIOGRAPHY:

Thomas Joyce is currently an IPS employment specialist with a homeless nonprofit in Denver. Thomas is a trauma-informed care trainer. He is a former K-12 teacher in Title I schools. Thomas has been a WarriorNOW trainer since 2021. He is currently an MPA student at the University of Colorado Denver.
