WarriorNOW contracts trained veteran Peer Mentors to Veterans Treatment Courts, helping participants meet court requirements and build toward stable employment.

WarriorNOW Peer Mentors are currently contracted to these Colorado courts. We have served the 18th Judicial District Veterans Treatment Court since 2019, Aurora Municipal Court and Lakewood Municipal Court since 2020, and the 23rd Judicial District since 2025.

What Peer Mentors do

Trained veteran Peer Mentors bring structure, accountability, and a clear path to work.

Accountability

  • Connect to transition education, certifications, and employers
  • Work toward steady employment, the thing that keeps veterans on track

  • Build steady, pro-social habits and community
  • Reach professional providers when clinical care is needed

Mentor qualifications

Trained for the courtroom and the job search.

Our Peer Mentors are veterans trained by WarriorNOW. Training covers:

  • Role of a peer mentor: boundaries, ethics, confidentiality
  • Communication and de-escalation
  • Working with justice-involved veterans and courts
  • Crisis awareness and when to refer to professionals
  • Employment readiness: goal-setting, job search, keeping a job
  • Resiliency and life-skills coaching

Initial training is 8 hours plus quarterly in-service, at no cost to participants.
